Three Cheers for L.A. Evans for completing her
Junction Trilogy in quick time and for completing it really well!
The final book – Junction: Time’s Up – is, as
the title suggests, a thrilling chase for resolution. The difficult and dark
times continue for the protagonists before hope-that-can-last is finally glimpsed.
As Book 2’s end had indicated, the twists and turns in
the lives of Zoe and Aisha aren’t over. The two come together to seek answers
for what fate has dealt them, and for whether they can ever set things right.
While in Book 1, the
reader sees things from the eyes and perspectives of Aisha and in Book 2, from
those of Zoe, in Junction: Time’s Up, the point of view alternates
between that of Aisha and Zoe with each chapter.

Evans expresses emotions
and thoughts of both the female protagonists well; in fact, she justifies the thoughts
and the actions of both, making her stance clear that perspective is a prime
player in life.
After reading the final
book, the heart really goes out to Zoe and Aisha shows herself to be a better
character than she had appeared in Book 1. The role of the enigmatic old lady
with her cryptic messages becomes clear – which is one of the key twists to
watch out for. The whole significance of the “Junction” is better understood
and why this is aptly the “Junction Trilogy”.
Destiny, injustices in
life – of which the lacks of the justice system also form a subset, possibility
for positive change in oneself and one’s situation are explored further. Book 3
is a roller-coaster ride of emotions – grief and happiness, dejection and hope,
anxiety and contentment are all offered on this ride. Themes of regret, atonement
and redemption, and faith are delved into too.
As the book draws to a close, it is possible to guess
the final resolution – but only as the end nears; throughout, new elements of
the whole are revealed. The overall plot of the trilogy is well-planned, down
to little details such as the relevance of choice of names and birthdays. Each
subsequent book of this trilogy – the first one was Evans’s debut novel – is written
better than its respective predecessor and contains fewer errors.
It would obviously not do to talk of what the ending of
the trilogy is but what does need to be said is that the reader mustn’t wait
too long to reach it. 😊 So, do grab a copy
– but read Book 1 and Book 2 first if you haven’t already.
Happy New Year and Happy Reading!
